Ruth Marie Carner, age 84, of Brainerd, died on August 3, 2012 at Riverside Assisted Living in Pillager. She was surrounded by the wonderful staff that works there and the very caring and loving staff of Heartland Hospice.

Ruth was born August 26, 1927 in Darwin to Claude & Dessie Mae (Gaffield) Kain. She graduated from Dassel High School in 1945. Ruth moved to the Twin Cities and worked at Shriners Hospital. She met Clifford Carner in Minneapolis and they were married on September 23, 1955. They moved to the Brainerd area shortly after. Ruth then stayed at home to raise their only son David.

Ruth is survived by her son: David (Dorothy) of Pillager; 2 grandchildren: Clayton & Molly; 1 great grandson: Josiah (Jo-Jo). Ruth lived for her two grandchildren and of course Jo-Jo, who was the apple of her eye.

She was met at the gates of heaven by her parents; husband, Clifford; brother: Warren; sisters: Jean, Peg, Doris and Shirley.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Street Chapel, 523 11th St S, Brainerd. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the church.

Ruth is finally resting pain free.
