Darlene Meier, RN, age 76, of Merrifield, died at Woodland Good Samaritan on June 11, 2012.

Darlene was born June 23, 1935 in Granite Falls, MN to Cleland & Esther (Kirschbaum) Hemmingson. She married Glennis Meier on November 19, 1955 in Granite Falls.

Darlene graduated as a registered nurse from Abbott Hospital in 1956.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Glen; children: Becky Cox of Maple Grove, MN, Bradley of Merrifield, Jeffrey of Nisswa, and Wendy Meier of North Port, FL; eight grandchildren: Adrienne, Lukus, Lisa, Liza, Heather, Katie, Nicole & Samantha; five great-grandchildren: Andrew, Trenton, Montana, Taiden & Valerie; and siblings: Donna (Mentor) Johnson of Richfield, Elaine (Arfield) Oie of Oakdale, Laverne (Betty) Forest of Fitchberg, WI, Boyd (Pat) Forest of Lake Mills, WI, Kay (Jim) Childs of Webster, WI and Linda (Tom) Bentzen of North Mankato.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and step-father, Anthony Forest, and son-in-law, Rodney Cox.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment at a later date at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls
