Phyllis Nyberg, age 89, formerly of Brainerd, MN, died June 6, 2012 at Quiet Oaks Hospice, St. Augusta, MN.
Phyllis was born November 24, 1922 in Minneapolis, MN. She grew up in Ashland, Wisconsin and following high school, attended business school in Minneapolis. She worked as a legal secretary until her marriage to Lloyd Nyberg on June 30, 1948. She and Lloyd had four daughters and following his death in 1960, she moved to Brainerd until her health required her to move closer to her daughters in 2011. The joy of her life was raising her daughters and enjoying her grandchildren. She was an active volunteer for the Brainerd Senior Center, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, Eastern Star, Women of the Moose, Garden Club, Shrine Auxiliary, and the Isaac Walton League. Her favorite pastimes were reading and weekly bridge games.
Phyllis is survived by her children: LaVonne (Don) Scully of Richland, WA, Linda (Stan) James of Fargo, ND, Loralee (Robert) Hackl of Plymouth, MN, and Louella (Michael) Jagielski of St. Joseph, MN; eight grandchildren, and brothers: John (Sue) Sandberg of Baltimore, MD, and Don (Idelle) Sandberg of Brainerd; and five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; and her parents, Hilmer and Florence (Brown) Sandberg.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation one-hour prior at the church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
